The Advantages of Using Bamboo Muslins

At KIKI & SEBBY® we use a mixture of extra-long staple (ELS) cotton and bamboo. Let’s have a look at the advantages of using bamboo muslins on your little one’s skin.

10 reasons why we use bamboo fabric:

  1. Bamboo fabric is very soft.

The fabric made from bamboo is so soft that it almost feels like it floats on your skin. This is because the bamboo fibre has a smooth, round shape with no sharp or rough parts that could cause irritation. We mix it with cotton to make it even softer.

  1. Items made of bamboo let air through.

The tiny holes in bamboo fibre make it a great fabric for keeping you cool. This makes you feel fresher for longer, so you wash your clothes less often. In the end, less washing helps clothes last longer, which is a key part of having a wardrobe that will last.

  1. When it’s hot, bamboo is good.

The way bamboo fabric regulates temperature keeps you cool when it’s hot outside. The material is very comfortable on hot days because it lets air in and gets rid of moisture. So, yes, that bamboo shirt will keep you cooler than a 100% cotton shirt and a bamboo muslin blanket is an ideal summer blanket option for a baby.

  1. Strong insulation

The same things that keep you cool in the summer also keep you warm in the winter. This makes bamboo a good material for any weather. This is because bamboo has cross-sectional fibres that help keep heat in on colder days. This means that when the temperature drops, bamboo is warmer than 100% cotton.

  1. Bamboo fabric can get rid of moisture.

Bamboo fabric helps keep your skin dry and comfortable because it pulls moisture away from your skin faster. Since bamboo is much more breathable than just cotton on its own, it is great for a swaddle that is worn close to the body. Bamboo items dry far more quickly than 100% cotton clothes.

  1. Bamboo is resistant to germs.

Bamboo fabric is said to be anti-bacterial, which means that it helps fight odours so that your items will stay fresh for longer. We all know that washing your clothes less makes them last longer and is better for the environment.

  1. Bamboo protects against UV rays.

Up to 97.5% of UV radiation can be blocked by bamboo fabric, so it naturally protects you from the sun’s harmful rays. However, we would ALWAYS recommend that you keep your baby away from direct sunlight and use proper UV protection at all times.

  1. Bamboo is good for skin that is easily irritated.

Natural bamboo is hypoallergenic, which means it does not cause allergic reactions. This makes it great for people with sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, you should always look for the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 label, which makes sure that there are no harmful materials left in the fabric. All our products are OEKO-TEX 100 certified.

  1. Bamboo fabric doesn’t get creases.

Bamboo is amazing because it doesn’t get wrinkled easily, even after being washed a lot. This is great for those of us who don’t like to iron, and it also makes it more eco-friendly because we need less energy to keep our bamboo items in good shape.

  1. Bamboo is a crop that can be grown forever.

Bamboo is a sustainable material – it grows easily and quickly.

Above are just some of the reasons that we use bamboo within our range. We are often asked why our products are not 100% bamboo. This is because they would not be as soft and luxurious if we did not mix them with extra-long staple cotton. We want what is best for your baby and this mix gives us just that.
